Meet Mr. Dazy

My hubby and I were talking about a veggie soup recipe couple weeks ago, and i just have to share it with you guys.

(hubby enumerating the ingredients...)
Hubby: ...carrots, celery, onion, tomatoes, bell pepper, green beans, beef broth, Mr. Dazy, pepper...
Me: wait, what?? What's a Mr. Dazy?
Hubby: that seasoning you used. (he sounded so sure)
Me: *confused expression* huh?
Hubby: you know, that fake salty stuff you used for the soup
Me: Oh! You mean Mrs. Dash!
Hubby: oh, yeah...that one. same thing
LOL!

We both laughed so hard over that silly mix-up Yes, our sense of humor is weird that way.

Anyway, "Mr. Dazy" sounded legit so I made this:

I think Mrs. Dash is more than thrilled that there's a Mr. Dazy inside our pantry :)

Eggplant and tomato bruschetta

A last minute addition to our little feast, made possible by left over ingredients.

Diced tomatoes, yellow bell pepper and eggplant coated with Italian style progresso bread crumbs.

Sauté garlic and onion in butter then add the eggplant and let it brown for a little bit. Add the tomatoes and yellow bell pepper. I omitted the parsley and used basil instead. I also added Parmesan because cheese makes everything taste better :)

Topped with mozzarella then baked for few minutes.

PS: iPhone 4's camera is amazing!

Bloggity blog

Now that I have all the free time in the world, my blog should be updated at least once a week (or twice for that matter). But for some bizarre reason, I just don't feel like it.

I'm currently experiencing blogger's block (legit term- based on google search)

I hope it will end soon.

Critical Care Conference/ Food trip

Spent two relaxing days in San Diego with some of my co-workers.
I didn't learn anything from the Critical Care Conference that we attended, but I sure found bunch of new places to eat :)

Dinner at Chocolat

Spicy chocolate and Coconut gelato

Pears and Gruyere salad
Nothing special with this salad. I would go to that place for the gelato. period.

Gnocchi with tomato cream sauce. I'll rate this place 2 stars,
I wasn't impressed with their food and service at all.
The gnocchi was hard and the sauce lacked flavors.
(thank goodness for parmesan cheese)

Lunch at Burger Lounge
Found this burger place around little Italy close to the Double Tree hotel.

Turkey burger with cheddar and grilled onions. Yum! I like that they have "baby" portion for the burger. Perfect for lunch time.

Went to Pappalecco for dessert instead of Extraordinary Dessert.
Their gelato was drool worthy!

Yummiest, creamiest and bestest gelato ever.
I ordered pistachio and pappalecco (chocolate, rum and biscotti).
This will be on my must-visit list for San Diego.

We also had lunch at Spicy Pickle but I forgot to take some photos.
I ordered the Sinker (Spicy Pickle tuna, lettuce, tomatoes, pepperjack and horseradish mayo) and  Forest salad (Spinach, portobello mushrooms, toasted hazelnuts, grilled onions and sundried tomatoes served with honey-balsamic vinaigrette)
If you're tired of subway or quizno, then you should visit spicy pickle!
